Last week of May and first week of June

I'm finally catching up with everything after 2 very busy weeks.
The students have been spending a lot of time exploring different math manipulative and coming up with their own math games.

We have been enjoying reading all of Mo Willems hilarious books. The classroom library has been a popular place. I love to see the kids reading together for fun!

We have been learning about different 3-Dimensional shapes. Here is a link to a song that has helped them memorize the names of the shapes.

The kids were challenged to build their own ramps to test which 3D shapes would roll or slide.

After attending the grade 6 Puff and Bake sale, the kids were interested in creating a classroom store. We have added a cash register to our dramatic play centre. The kids have been making price tags, shopping lists, play money, and receipts. We have a few little entrepreneurs amongst us.

In preparation for our Father's Day event, the kids worked on drawing and painting portraits of Dad.

We were fortunate to have a guest teacher come in and lead the students in a yoga class. It was amazing how calm and quiet the school gym was with over 60 kids!

We were very busy creating our movie trailers for the Father's Day event. The kids chose the genre of movie they would like to be in after watching samples. They were then put in groups based on their preference of movie type. They groups then re-watched the blank template with music and came up with ideas for their storyline. After they worked out costumes and props they would need. I was so impressed with their creativity and how well the kids worked together. Way to go!
